As you may have noticed, it's been quite a while since the last release of bloat. By which I mean that it's been almost two years now. Now, there have been some changes in that time, but I've somewhat run out of ideas for improvements to bloat, short of a full rewrite. So, I'm asking for your help; are there any features that bloat does not currently implement, and that are within the scope of bloat, that you would like to see? If you have any suggestions, please contact me, either by e-mail, or by IRC in #bloat on irc.freenode.net. Thank you.
Welcome to the new-look bloat.org.uk. Hopefully you'll enjoy the new design, and the new, easier to remember domain. As always, the site remains valid XHTML and CSS, the only real change being a nicer design.
Since Sourceforge has introduced Subversion support, we have migrated away from CVS for the Bloat development tree. For instructions on checking out the Subversion, see the bleeding-edge checkout page.
Sorry if you recently tried to access the front page or RSS feed only to be greeted with an error; SourceForge changed their MySQL setup (to a much nicer one), and I managed to miss the e-mail telling me. Hopefully that won't happen again for a long time.
Not the most exciting news in the world, but there is a new downloads page to replace the (confusing) sourceforge file picker.
If any of you out there have archive formats which can't currently be handled by bloat, please contact me (e-mail address at top of page) with details. Thank you.
I've been finding the old red-on-black look that I designed in 2002 to be pretty hard to read now, so we have a new look. Yes, it still looks crap, but visual design isn't my thing. If you preferred the old look, that's available as an alternate stylesheet.
In addition to this, there's a new RSS feed available. Firefox/Konq/Opera users can click their RSS buttons, and people who use different RSS aggregators can use a direct link.
Autopackage 1.0 has just been released, so I've brought back the .package files for bloat! To install a package file, simply execute it; see How to install Linux autopackages in 4 easy steps for more information.
After a long wait, bloat 1.5 is finally out. The Big New Thing in this release is i18n/l10n support - basically allowing translations.
To see what else is new, head on over to the release notes.
Thanks to David Piniella there is now a Spanish translation of Bloat in CVS.
